The Plan
The city has put forward a plan to build a new community center to better serve our growing and thriving city.
A more dynamic community center for residents of all ages
Recognizing that the former community center primarily functioned as a large event space, residents have expressed a desire for a new facility that offers a wide range of spaces that will foster community engagement and support more programs.
Key features of the new community center will include:
Community spaces for various activities
Areas for youth and senior programs
A large, modern kitchen
New equipment and technology
All renderings are conceptual and subject to change pending approval.
Designed and built to allow for expansion in the future
While the new community center would offer spaces for various community events and programs, it would also be designed in a way that would support future expansion opportunities that could include an indoor walking track and playground, as well as daycare and fitness spaces, among other amenities.
Aligning with a local health clinic
The city is currently in talks with a healthcare provider that is considering building a health clinic that could either adjoin the community center or be built nearby if the sales tax proposal is approved by residents this November.
Currently, Dilworth doesn’t have a health clinic within its city limits.
Key features of the new fire station will include:
Larger bays for firetrucks and tactical gear
Expanded training room
Office for the fire chief
Locker room and storage for firefighters
New cleaning areas to support safety protocols for cleaning equipment
Designated safe storage for equipment before and after decontamination
Adequate parking for firefighters and visitors
Did you know? The new station will be built adjacent to the current fire department, which will allow firefighters to continue to respond to emergency calls and provide other services throughout the construction process.
A modern fire station to support our volunteer firefighters
In April, construction began on a new fire station at its current location. The new fire station will support our 30 volunteer firefighters in a modern facility that will be more than double the size of the current building and provide safer spaces for training and storing equipment.
